About Me
After graduating from the University of Huddersfield, UK with a 2:1 BA(Hons) degree in Computer Games Design, my first position was as a Junior Artist at Mayhem Games. Unfortunately after only seven weeks this company went into liquidation. At Mayhem Games I spent time working on a Wii title, Freddie Flintoff Cricket, designing, modelling and texturing low polygon environment assets.
Since leaving Mayhem Games I have worked as a freelance 3D Artist. The largest project I undertaken so far was producing an online interactive 3D version of a school as a showcase for it’s IT Department. I reproduced the majority of the school in 3ds Max, textured in Photoshop, then optimised everything for web distribution using Unity3D.
My experience gained working with Unity and my knowlegde of low polygon modelling led to being offered a contract at Fifth Dimension in Milton Keynes. Fifth Dimension work closely with big name retailers and product manufacturers and offer a wide range of services. In particular I was brought in to help develop a range of 3D virtual stores.
Prior to completing my degree I spent a year working at Canalside Studios in Huddersfield (as an optional year of University studies.) The main title I worked on was called Yo-Ho Kablammo! and is now published on Xbox Live Arcade. My role throughout the year was as a 3D generalist within a small art team and my key responsibilities included modelling and texturing low poly objects and environments.
I like to keep busy with projects in my spare time whether they be digital or not and always seem to have something on the go.
Personal
In the little spare time I have left I can usually be found on my computer creating something or be found outside tinkering with my car! I have a 1973 MG Midget which is currently undergoing an engine transplant, a 1.8 VVC K-series engine. That might not sound like much these days but hopefully it will be outputting 160+bhp which in a car which weighs under 700kg should make for an interesting drive! More information about this can be found at my MG Midget blog…
Prior to learning to drive I used to spend a lot of time creating cars for GTA3 & VC mods, which sparked my interest in all things 3D. All of these can be found on my GTA page as I’ve decided to take my old GTA site down and concentrate on my portfolio and some tutorials.
