Stripping the Midget Part2
More progress on the stripping front, the original 1275cc engine is very nearly ready to come out. All that is left is the throttle cable on the engine and the rest of the gearbox stuff like the prop shaft, gear lever and clutch linkage.
The wings didn’t really want to be removed, with just one awkward bolt holding the passenger side wing to the front cowling right at the very bottom. For some reason, perhaps a previous owner or maybe MG, instead of the nut and bolt having a regular hex shaped head, the bolt had a round head with a slot, just to make it more interesting! We ended up leaving the wings bolted to the cowling and lifting it off in one piece, I’ll separate the cowling and wings another day! A couple of sheared bolts later and I managed to remove the battery and heater and all of the standard 1275 plumbing including all of the pipes and the radiator.
It’s certainly getting more interesting now with progress getting swifter, and I’m starting to imagine how that big old Kseries will look in that little engine bay of my Midget!
